No Rebate on export of goods manufactured in Excise Free Zones

NEW DELHI. The Finance Ministry has finally woken from its sleep and has banned the Rebate of excise duty in case of export of goods which are manufactured by a manufacturer located in Excise Free Zone vide Notification No. 37/2007-Central Excise (N.T.) dated 17th September 2007 after AIT reported misuse of Rebate provisions and double benefits by some Units located in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Rebate is no more admissible in case of export of goods which are manufactured by a manufacturer availing the following notifications:

Notification No. 33/99- Central Excise, dated the 8th July, 1999-Exemption to North-East Units

Notification No. 39/2001-Central Excise, dated the 31st July, 2001 –exemption to Units in Kutch

Notification No.56/2002-Central Excise, dated the 14th November, 2002-Exemption to Units in Jammu & Kashmir
