Palaniappam to present Union Budget on 29th February AIT News Network NEW DELHI. Palaniappam Chidambaram will present Union Budget 2008-2009 on 29th February 2008 in Parliament. Budget Speech will start at 11 AM and if everything goes smoothly in Parliament ; the Speech will be over by 12.40 PM. - Being the last pre-election Budget; several significant changes are expected in the Budget not only by the “common man” who is expecting a relief in prices of consumer products but also by the Industry which is sooner or later going to be affected by recession in US and meltdown in IPO market and high interest rates .
- Auto, IT ,Pharma, Cement, Chemicals, Textile and manufacturing sectors are keeping their fingers crossed and are pinning their hopes on lowering of taxes.
- AIT Budget Team will keep global netizens and subscribers updated of the developments as soon as the Budget is unfolded. Heavy Traffic is expected on AIT server on Budget Day for which all the arrangements have been made.
- The changes in Customs & Central Excise duties will be effective from 1st March 2008. The manufacturers are allowed to clear the goods at existing rates of excise duty on the Budget Day following the normal procedures.
- Major changes in service tax will be effective after the Finance Bill 2008 becomes Finance Act 2008 after passing of the Finance Bill by both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and after signature and rubber stamp of President of India.
