Rajasthan has introduced VAT with effect from 1st April 2006

April 12,2006.The Rajasthan government has exempted 13 items including handmade soap and irrigation appliances from VAT.

The exemption comes into effect from April 1.

Besides, under a new composite scheme, the VAT rate for small traders with a turnover up to Rs 50 lakh has been lowered from 1 per cent to 0.25 per cent.
