Service Tax Officers booked for Attempt to Murder CBI Sleuths

MADURAI.10th April 2016. A Superintendent of Service Tax and his Junior and 7 private persons have been booked by Police on charges of Attempt to Murder CBI Officers, and dacoity, rioting, criminal trespass, assaulting government officials to deter them from discharging their duty, and criminal intimidation. According to sources all the accused are absconding.

According to CBI sources, the team of five CBI Officers trapped the Superintendent at around 5 p.m. on Friday Night while taking bribe from a Cable Operator in the Office.

The incident happened at 8 PM when statement was being recorded in the Office of the Commissioner of Central Excise & Service Tax located at Bibikulam when an armed gang barged in and attacked 5 CBI sleuths and rescued Service Tax Officers who were allegedly trapped and detained by CBI. CBI sleuths sustained bleeding injuries and are still admitted in a private hospital.

According to sources the armed gang also destroyed the trap documents and since more than 5 persons were part of the armed gang; the charges of dacoity have been framed as the property was taken away by so-called dacoits.
